Edmuntum (2013). Study Island. Retrieved March 25, 2013 from http://www.studyisland.com/web/about-us/

The interactive page I want to share today is Study Island. Study Island is a fun and effective way for students to improve academic skills at school or in at homes. I use it once a week in my reading and language arts classes and the students really like.
Study Island gives immediate feedback as it tracks, charts, and graphs student progress so that both students and teachers can see student strenghs and areas that need a little more attention.
Working in Study Island from home is also a great way for parents to join in a partnership with their student and the teacher.

Founded in 2000, Study Island, an Edmentum product, helps students in kindergarten through 12th grade master state-specific, grade-level academic standards in a fun and engaging manner. Study Island provides standards-based instructional, practice, assessment, and productivity tools that improve the performance of educators and students via our web-based platforms.
Study Island combines rigorous content that is highly customized to specific state standards in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies with interactive features and games that engage students and reinforce and reward learning achievement. Study Island’s programs enable educators to track student performance in real-time to address individual learning gaps, while allowing administrators to monitor student progress and measure teacher effectiveness.

Instructions for logging onto Study Island are as follows:

1. From the link above you will go directly to the S.I. homepage.

2. Once here type in your pre-assigned user name and password. Click Submit and you will be taken to the Study Island work space.

3. Once here you can go to My Assignments located on the top right corner and select the assignment you are currently working on. You can work on a previous assignment to try to improve your score. You may also go toKY Programs or U. S. Programs and select an assignment. From here you will have a choice to select the number of questions you would like to attempt and choose from practice exercises online, in print, or in game formats.

4. There is also a Live Chat icon if you should help while navigating the site. COOL HUH!

I believe this is a very good tool, is user-friendly, and beneficial to all students regardless of their academic ability.

Give it a try!
